The JA1400 is the machine we hand to someone who has never sewn before — and it is still going years later. Simple dials, 14 stitches, a top-loading bobbin you can actually see, and an LED light so you are not squinting at your seam. Nothing on it will intimidate you.
Who this machine is for
First-time sewists learning on a machine that will not fight them.
Menders and alterers — hems, buttons, school uniforms, curtains.
Students and gifts — light enough to carry, simple enough to learn in an afternoon.
Probably not for you if you sew heavy denim daily or want computerised stitch selection — look at the FS60X instead.
