A machine you can use is worth more than a machine you own

The most common reason a good machine sits in a cupboard is not that it is faulty. It is that the owner got stuck on something small — tension, threading order, the wrong stabiliser — lost confidence, and put it away.

An hour with someone who knows the machine usually fixes that permanently.

Where our training happens

Hands-on lessons are run through our Durban partner, Brother & Empisal Machines CC — the business our roots are in, which has been teaching people on these machines for around four decades from Durban Central and Pinetown.

This is real, in-person training on the machine in front of you, not a video playlist.

What people come in for

• Getting started. Threading, bobbin winding, tension, stitch selection, first project — the fundamentals that make everything else possible.
• Overlockers. The single most requested lesson. Threading order on an overlocker is not intuitive, and differential feed is not obvious. One session and it stops being intimidating.
• Machine embroidery. Hooping, stabiliser choice, design placement, thread and tension. Most first-attempt puckering is a stabiliser problem, and it is fixable in twenty minutes.
• Combination machines. Two skill sets in one machine — worth being walked through both.
• Professional and multi-needle machines. Cap hooping, colour sequencing, production workflow. If a machine is earning you money, learning it properly is the highest-return hour you will spend.
• Digitising with PE-Design. The software does not teach you stitch density, underlay or pull compensation — and those are exactly what separate a clean logo from a puckered one.
