About Us
Forty years of machines, now online and nationwide
Most people buying a sewing or embroidery machine are not buying a machine. They are buying a plan — to start making their own clothes, to take in alterations, to put a logo on two hundred golf shirts by Friday. The machine is just the part you pay for.
The Embroidery House exists because getting that decision right is harder than it should be. Online you get a spec sheet and a price. In a shop you get an opinion, but only if you happen to live near a good one.
Where we are, and where we come from
The Embroidery House operates from Pretoria, Gauteng, and ships across South Africa. We are an online retailer — there is no walk-in showroom, which is exactly why our product pages and our phone line have to do the work a shop floor would normally do.
Our sister business, Brother & Empisal Machines CC, has been selling, servicing and teaching on these machines for around four decades from Durban Central and Pinetown in KwaZulu-Natal. It is led by Gori, and if you have ever been into that shop you will know the approach: nobody gets sold the expensive machine because it is the expensive machine. You get asked what you are making. Then you get told which machine does that, even when the answer is the cheaper one on the shelf behind you.
Four decades of that is a lot of accumulated knowledge about which machines last, which features people actually use, and which ones look impressive in a brochure and then never get touched. That knowledge is what this store is built on.
What we are building
The Embroidery House takes that knowledge national. Same genuine Brother range — from a first mechanical sewing machine to a ten-needle production embroidery machine — delivered anywhere in South Africa, with product pages written to actually answer your questions instead of listing bullet points.
You will notice our product pages tell you who a machine is not for. That is deliberate. A returned machine helps nobody, and a customer who bought too much machine does not come back.
What we do
- We sell genuine Brother machines. Sewing, overlocking, embroidery, combination, professional multi-needle, ScanNCut and sublimation — plus genuine accessories, consumables and PE-Design software.
- We deliver nationwide from Pretoria. Anywhere in South Africa, with larger machines couriered insured and delivery arranged with you directly.
- We give you a straight answer before you buy. Call or WhatsApp us, tell us what you are making, and we will tell you which machine fits — including when that is a cheaper one. Buying advice costs nothing.
- We can put you in touch with training. Hands-on lessons are delivered by our partners, including Brother & Empisal Machines CC in Durban. Training is a separate, chargeable service and is quoted by the provider — it is not included with a machine.
- We can put you in touch with a technician. Servicing and repairs are carried out by Brother-authorised service partners around the country, charged by them, and we will point you to the right one for your area.
What we don't do
- We don't do embroidery work for customers. We sell the machines — we are not a contract embroidery service.
- We don't repair or service machines. That work belongs with Brother-authorised technicians who have the parts and the training. We have no workshop.
- We don't run training ourselves. Our partners do, and they charge for it.
- We don't have a walk-in shop. We are online, and we would rather answer the phone properly than pretend otherwise.
- We don't sell grey imports or clones. Genuine Brother stock with the manufacturer warranty, or nothing.
Why genuine Brother matters
Every Brother machine we sell carries the applicable Brother South Africa manufacturer warranty from date of purchase — and Brother do not make you register the product to claim it. Using genuine Brother accessories and consumables keeps that warranty intact and keeps the machine running the way it was designed to.
