The A16 is where computerised sewing starts. You pick a stitch on an LCD instead of guessing at a dial, the machine sets it correctly, and your seams get noticeably more consistent — without paying for features you will not use yet.

Who this machine is for

  • Sewists moving up from mechanical who want precision without complexity.
  • Garment makers and beginner quilters who need stitch settings they can repeat exactly.
  • Anyone who has fought a 4-step buttonhole and does not want to again.

Probably not for you if you need a large workspace for quilts — the A150 or F420 give you more room and more stitches.

What it does well

  • Computerised stitch selection on an LCD screen — you see exactly what is set
  • Repeatable stitch length and width settings
  • Buttonhole function
  • Drop-in top-load bobbin
  • Free arm for cuffs and sleeves

Questions people ask

Is computerised harder to learn? No — usually easier. The screen tells you what the machine is doing instead of you interpreting a dial.

Will it handle denim? Occasional light denim, yes. Regular heavy denim work belongs on the FS60X with its metal frame.

Can I quilt on it? Small quilts and blocks, comfortably. Full-size quilts want the larger workspace of the F420.
