An overlocker is what makes a home-made garment stop looking home-made. The 2504D trims, sews and finishes the seam edge in one pass — the clean interior finish you see on shop-bought clothes, and the reason knits stop stretching out of shape.

Who this machine is for

  • Garment sewists who want professional seam finishes without a second thought.
  • Anyone sewing knits or jersey — t-shirts, leggings, babywear.
  • Home alteration businesses where a neat inside finish is part of the job.

Note: an overlocker does not replace a sewing machine. It works alongside one — you still need a sewing machine for buttonholes, topstitching and zips.

What it does well

  • 2, 3 and 4-thread overlocking — covers rolled hems, narrow hems, seam finishing and stretch seams
  • Differential feed — stops knits waving and gathers lightweight fabric cleanly
  • Built-in knife trims the seam allowance as you sew
  • Adjustable stitch length and cutting width
  • Colour-coded threading guide
  • Free arm for cuffs and sleeves

Questions people ask

Is threading it as hard as people say? The first few times, a bit. The colour-coded guide and correct threading order solve it. If you want it made painless, the Airflow 3000 threads its loopers with a puff of air.

Do I still need my sewing machine? Yes. They do different jobs and most sewing rooms have both.

What is differential feed for? It stops stretchy fabric from rippling along the seam — the single most useful feature on the machine.
